Meetings
The Troop meets every Thursday night from 7:30 to approximately 8:30 pm at the Scout House in Kelby Park. Regular attendance is part of the Scout Spirit requirement for Rank advancement. Scouts should be in full uniform unless otherwise informed.
Scouts who miss three Troop meetings must have a Scoutmaster’s conference upon returning unless prior arrangements have been made.
Patrols meet for 1 – 1-1/2 hour, two – four times a month. The time and place for these meetings are established by the Patrol Leader. These meetings are used to improve Scout Skills (for Rank advancement), prepare for Troop demos, and to prepare for outings and other Troop activities. The Patrol Leader’s parent must be present at these meetings and should attend monthly Troop Committee meetings to report on Patrol activities. Either the Patrol Leader or the Assistant Patrol Leader (assigned by the Patrol Leader) must attend the monthly Patrol Leader’s Council meeting, hosted by the Scoutmaster.
All registered adults are members of the Troop Committee. Troop Committee meetings are on the first Monday of each month (except holidays) at First Presbyterian Church of Covina on Second & School Streets. These meetings report on past Troop activities and Scout advancement, discuss problems, policies, finances, adult participation, and organized future Troop outings and activities. At least one parent of each boy is expected to attend the majority of these meetings.
The Troop operates on an annual program schedule. At the September meeting, the schedule of campouts, backpacks, fund-raisers and other activities is established for the next twelve months. Every parent is required to participate in at least one Troop activity. Parents not at the September meeting will have an activity assigned to them. Boys may not be re-registered if their parent(s) do not participate at least once per year. After going on one overnight campout, parent becomes eligible for membership in the Do-Dad patrol.
