Ten Essentials
Below are the Scouting Ten Essentials all scouts should have with them anytime they are outside of their immediate campsites. Please note: Scouts should never have any type of medication with them. If they require medication on a campout, arrangements should be made with the Scoutmaster before the activity. The troop has a very thorough first aid kit that includes many of the over-the-counter medications one may need. Please remember, we carry all the medical forms on every outing. On that form you can pre-approve any over the counter medication that your child might need while away on activities. If you do not pre-approve, the parent(s) will be called before ANY medication can be administered. (Electrolytes may be given when needed)
Pocket knives can only be carried after the scout has earned his “Totem Chip” and matches are not allowed on most campouts. Firestarter’s are allowed to be carried at all times. The Ten Essentials list are the minimum items to be carried. I recommend carrying paracord and carabiners, duct tape and some form of water purification. Please contact the Scoutmaster Corps should you have any questions.
